Bailiff's Diary: Week 13
w/e 26th June 2009

Many apologies to anyone looking for this weeks Bailiffs Diary. Matt the bailiff did his bit, and sent me the info, and his disc downloaded from the guys cameras, however I don’t know if it's because I left it in the sunlight (though it's never happened before) or the disc was a dodgy one or the info transfer to the disc failed. Matt is going to try and retrieve the info from the laptop in France and send it back this weekend. On a personal note anything to do with computers or I.T. are totally lost on me, re-heating a cup of tea in the micro-wave is about as technical as I get.

However!! I do have a couple of photos to use, some of the lads had taken their photos on their phones, but as we (at present) can't download these little sim style cards we asked the lads to email the photos to us on their return, which they duly did. Many thanks, so if all else fails I’ll have a couple of photos.

I will however give you a quick run down on some of Week 13 results, since everyone made the effort to fill in the catch report forms.

Two Top Rods this week both with a catch of 24 fish, 2 lads on Lake 2.

Lee Wilmshurst peg 23 had 24 carp on the Cell.

Lee Simmons peg 24/14 also had a total of 24 fish again on Cell, and Scopex.

Fishing-wise, it wasn't one of our spectacular weeks, anyway the weather:- hot, stormy and unsettled. 20 degrees to start, Weds and Thurs up to 28 degrees.

Boilies competing with naturals (fry-feeding) very high air pressure affecting the results. I recommend people ease up on the heavy baiting till the carp get their heads down again.

The Powell family Tony, Kevin and Gary fished pegs 27, 28 and 30.

Gary was top rod with just 17 carp up to 40lbs plus a bonus 71lb cat, all their carp caught on the Active-8.

Lake 1 didn’t do much at all, numbers wise but did a few 50’s though!!

Ceri Howells “West Point” had 11 carp (top-rod) up to a 50lb + common on Dynamite baits.

Richard Ellis “Unknown” ended the week with one of the other 50’s a 51lb common on the Dreamlake Special Tigernut boilies.

Steve O’Reilly “Cherries” had 7 fish and also landed a 51lb common on B5 and the Cell.

Matt Kelly “Ladies Lair” also landed 7 carp up to 45lbs on the Active-8.

Alan Smith 44lb Common DL1
Alan Smith 44lb Common DL1

Allan Smith “Snags” had half a dozen carp up to 44lbs on Mainline baits.

Down on Lakes 3, 4 and 5.
Top rod on these lakes was Sam Evans with over 20 carp up to 40lbs on Cell or Halibut boilies from Lake 5. Lake 3, 14 carp was the best catch.

Phil Brindly, peg 14 had the biggest a 49lb 4oz mirror on the Cell.

On Lake 4 Jamie Craine had 15 fish up to mid 40’s on the Cell or Source.

Hopefully I will be able to retrieve Matt's photos and at least make his diary update look half decent, won’t be the same without the photos.

I know next weeks diary will have plenty of photos, as the lakes have picked right up!! When I spoke to Matt in the week.

Once again sorry for the cock up lads!!

Zen.

Bailiff's Diary: Week 12
w/e 19th June 2009

The weather this week started off with rain on Sat, then overcast Sun, sunny for the rest of the week 22-27 degrees (on Thurs).

Action wise Lake 2 fished really well, 3-4-5 was reasonable, and Lake 1 was a bit slow again with lots of carp on the surface.

Mick Owen 51lb Grassie DL2
Mick Owen 51lb Grassie DL2

Let’s start with Lake 2

Michael Owen, peg 4 (no not that one) fished at catapult range, using Cell boilies, as ever, caught a total of 65 carp (the weeks “Top Bombing“ award) during the week inc. 36x20lbers, 13x30’s. Mick's best fish being an impressive 51lb grass carp, these fish fight just as hard on the bank as they do in the water!!

Luke Stevenson peg 6, was a few fish behind Mick with a total of 57 carp. Using the same tackle and tactics, boilies at catapult range, using either Nash or the Cell baits.

Continuous baiting after each take (match style) day or night, they did put in a lot of effort. Luke’s catch of 57 inc. 22x20lbers, 22x30lbers and 3x40lbers.

Dom Stevenson 43lb 8oz Leather DL2

Dominic Stevenson peg 7 took the lazy approach and just dropped out P.V.A bags, in the swim next door, to be honest it was Dom’s first proper carp trip, having never fished at night before he still managed 20 carp up to 43lbs on the Cell.

Darren Webster peg 22 had a catch of 22 carp inc. 11x30’s on the Cell.

Jason Casey peg 19 caught 18 carp, and pal Kevin Kettlewell >>> peg 20, had a dozen carp for his efforts, again on the Cell.

On Lakes 3-4-5
Top gun was Tom Laughton
in peg 15, who had a total of 20 for the week, inc. 3x40’s, 44-45 and 48lb 3ozs, and rounded of the trip with a monster 65lb 12oz Common, the second 60lber in the last two weeks. Tom's fish all fell to Mainline Active-8 boilies.

Gary Davies >>> peg 4, caught 11 fish inc. 4x30’s and 4x40’s inc. 2x48lb commons and 49lb mirror on a mix of Cell and Active-8 boilies. The highlight though was young Carlton Davies >>> 8 years old who on Sunday hooked into a fish almost as big as himself, he did really well to land his 51lb common, well done! Young’en!!

Richard Penny, peg 6, had 9 fish for the week, this time on the Pulse.

Lake 5
Mark Heald
in peg 2 had a total of 15 carp for the session, he hasn’t put down what bait he used, but his best fish I know was a 50lb Common. Dave Odlin, peg 5, also caught a total of 15 carp, no real monsters though, all caught on Nash baits. Stuart Leather, peg 8, caught 7 carp, the biggest a 40lb mirror. Steve Robinson, peg 3 had 8 carp inc. 3x40’s on a mix of boilies. Mark Heath, using a mix of Cell or Pulse boilies had a catch of 9 fish for the week his best being a 50lb mirror, and Mark also had an 84lb cat, just to make sure his arms really ached!!

Paul Beeston “Nibbler” was the resident bailiff for the last 2 weeks down on 3-4-5. Paul spends the days wandering around the lakes helping out with guys rigs and helping to point out potential hot spots for the lads.

“Nibbler” who fishes only at nights winkled out last week as I mentioned a new lake record of 68lbs, during the 12 nights he fished. Paul amassed a haul of 18x30lbers up to 39lbs, and 22 x40lbers up to 49lbs and a brace of 50lbers to boot, all taken at approx 40yrds or easy casing and baiting range. Who said “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!!” Paul used some old Mainline Diamond White shelflife boilies he’d found!!

Dave, Allen and Friends (to the end)
Dave, Allen and Friends (to the end)

Finally here is a shot of the Dave Huggin's groups on 4-5 with the ashes of their good mate Allen Webb, who sadly lost his battle with cancer, but had fought on determined to go on holiday.

So Dave and the guys made sure he got his wish. Good on yer guys, pals till the end hey!

Bailiff's Diary: Week 11
w/e 13th June 2009

After a promising start Sat and Sunday, the weather changed for the worse again and the action started to tail off. Rain and sun most days with high temps just 19 degrees. There’s loads of fry everywhere, it’s possible the carp could be fry-feeding! This week’s anglers were up against it, and have done really well in the tricky conditions. No particular bait method or tactics has stood out as performing well this week.

Another new venue record of 68lbs >>>

Tony Rae's 56lb 8oz Common DL3

Tony used 15kgs of either Cell or Active-8 topped with SBS corn shapes during the course of the week.

“Nibbler” Paul Beeston one of our bailiffs (pictured top right,) fished with the lads from peg 11 he had a few fish out just doing the nights inc. 4x40’s up to 49lbs, also a 52lb common and topped it of with a new lake and venue record of 68lbs of common carp, it was in fact “Nibbler” who held the previous record.

Derek Jennings peg 9 had a dozen carp including 2x40lbs, and a mid forty cat as well, taken on Active-8 or Cell boilies. >>>

Craig Mason peg 16 went home with arm ache after landing 10 fish, the highlight being a cat of 112lbs which took a liking to Craig’s Active-8 hook bait.

Martin South peg 7 and 8 had 9 carp up to 45lbs a common on DLS.

Luke Coppleston peg 4 took a total of 9 carp which included 3x 40’s all commons, the best 45lbs.

Bailiff's Diary: Week 10
w/e 6th June 2009

The weather this week has been fantastic, hot and sunny during the day 25 degrees+ warm, balmy evenings 14 degrees and with weather like that; it goes without saying the air pressure was high.

The fishing is on the “pick-up” after last weeks spawning, and grotty weather! Good quality fish being caught. Precision and accuracy playing a big part, regarding pre-baiting and spodding.

The site mincers and Korda Krusha’s are being put to good use, with the bags and sticks. The grass carp are now putting in more of an appearance. You know when you hook on of these, it feels like you’re just hooked the Mayor’s donkey!!!

We still managed 50x40’s this week!!!

Lakes 3-4-5
This week “Top Bombing” award goes to Richard Barlow on lake 4 peg 1 with a catch of 41 carp, inc. 12x30’s, 5x40’s and a scraper 50 of 50lb-8ozs a mirror for a change Rich used 15kg of Mainline Fusion with Black Pepper.

Steve Wiles and Chris Cowell made up the rest of the group on 4, they had catches of 11 and 14 fish inc. 40’s again all on the good old Avtive-8.

Over on Lake 5
Ben Mees
had a total of 13 fish inc. 5x40’s up to 48lb mirror then a 50 of 52lb-4ozs, then rounded of the session with one of the big cats in 5, a monster of 103lbs, all fell to 15kg of Cell or Active-8 boilies, from peg 6.

Nigel Cooper pegs 3 and 4 had 16 fish out up to 40lbs, plus cats of 45lbs and 80lbs on Cell or Red Fish.

Neil Edmondson peg 7 had a total of just carp up to 49lbs-9ozs that would have been well over 50lbs last week! Then topped it of with a 63lb cat and this week’s biggie of 104lbs-8ozs, using 15kg of Cell and the Active-8.

Over on Lake 3, only 5 of you bothered to fill out your catch report forms, thanks anyway. Phil Little peg 16 had a dozen carp out inc. 2x40’s, the best a common of 49lbs on corn boilies and Cell.

Kirk Little peg 14, had a memorable session, his “best weeks fishing ever!” he says, taking a final tally of 17 carp for the week, but this included 5x40’s one a common of 49lbs and a mirror of 48lbs then topped it of in grand style with a 63lb-10ozs common.

Lakes 3-4-5 produced 28x40’s this week a coupla 50’s and a 60lber.

Now lets move on to Lake 1
Graham Patching “Cherries” had the weeks best bag, a haul of 30 carp, comprising of 8x30’s, 5x40’s up to 47lb and a rather impressive mirror of 57lb-2ozs, all taken on a blend of Plum Cell, 15kgs of it to be exact.

Keith Martin “Slope” had 23 carp for the week up to 40lbs on GB Plum.

Dave McNaughton “Three Steps” had 16 fish inc. 4x40’s inc. a brace of big commons both of 46lbs, Dave used 25kg of CC Moores.

Gavin Childs “Embers” had 10 fish, the biggest being a 53lb common. Kenny and Sam Childs fishing either side of Gavin also caught well, all using a Mainline bait? Suffice to say all had a good week on 1, so I’ll move over briefly to Lake 2 as I’m running out of space.

Lake 2
Neil Brookes
peg 17 had 26 carp up to 43lbs a common on the Cell and Active-8.

Darren Chase peg 27 had 17 fish up to 43lbs on Squid flavour boilies.

Dave McNaughton 46lb Common DL1
Dave McNaughton 46lb Common DL1

Luke Buttle BANG TO RIGHTS
Luke Buttle BANG TO RIGHTS

Andy Robertson peg 11 had 15 fish inc. 2x40’s, he hasn’t put down the weights (which would help) Cell and Active-8 again.

Wayne Waller peg 20 took 16 fish on Squid flavour boilies.

Luke Buttle peg 19, had 14 fish on the same bait as did.

Mark McGhee in peg 30, who also had a catch of 14 carp on the squid too!

On average lads, if you are looking for clues for your trip ahead, people seem to be using a bit more bait now, and the Cell, then the Active-8 are the most popular, and appear to be catching the most fish!!!

See you next week, Matt.
