Bailiff's Diary: Week 31
w/e 30th October 2009

The winds were light and variable again, the high pressure system stayed over us for yet another week, though what ever happened the lads were determined to enjoy themselves, and as ever the last week always see’s a good bunch of guys!! Luckily we didn’t have the frost of the previous two weeks, 5-8 degrees at night and 12-16 during the days for us.

The conditions ensured the fishing was slow, it did produce some quality fish the ‘’Biggun’’ On Lake 3 has finally made 70lbs plus a few 50’s as well.

I’ll start on Lake 1 Top Rod strangely enough was our very own Zen, who managed to winkle out 11 fish for the session, the best a 41lb common from the ‘West Point’ swim. Most of the carp were still held up down the arms.

Richard Timson took full advantage and set up down the ‘Gables’ end where the fish were crashing all over him, using small bags and Cell boilies Richard soon landed 2 x 30’s up to 39lb’s and a 44lb Common, not bad going for a lad just getting into his carp fishing.

Gary Caunter he moved swims nearly every day took 10 fish for his efforts on the Cell on Zen’s New Grange bait they had been using. Phil Walker ‘Sunset’ also had 4 fish up to 39lbs and a 40lb Common as well on the cell. Darren Raynes ‘all over’ took 5 fish for his efforts on the Cell and the New Grange bait. Finally Jason Caunter had 7 fish up to 39lbs on the Cell and Grange combo.

Lake 2 Joint ‘top rods’ on 2 this week with 18 fish a piece, Vinnie Martin peg 28 had an 18 fish catch taken on the Pulse & Cell boilies which inc, 2 x 40’s a common and a 43lb mirror, the other lad on 18 fish was Kurtis Pottle peg 8 with fish up to 42lbs on Nosh bait!!

Martin Lewis peg 30 had a 15 fish haul with carp up to 39lbs on Scopex/Cell. Ian Norie peg 11 only had a couple but the best however was a 49lb common also on scopex. Sadly the other lads only had a few each if that.

Matt Wickens 70lb Common DL3

Lake 3 "Top Dog", "Top Rod" and this weeks "Top Bombin" awards gotta go to <<< Matt Wickens >>> who’s first fish was the venues first 70lb Common!

Matt had a total of 6 fish from peg 2 inc a 46lb common and a 52lb common as well on The Cell.

John Evans >>> peg 5 had three out up to 51lbs again on the Cell.

Dale Aldridge peg 8 had 5 fish Inc, 2 x 40’s of 43lb.8oz and 46lbs on the Cell.

Buzz Burrett >>> peg 11 took a total of 8 fish inc 2 x 40’s on The Cell & New Grange baits.

As there wasn’t anyone on Lakes 4 & 5, 3 of the youngsters on Lake 3 moved across as soon as the 70 was caught. The 2 lakes had fished quite well the previous weeks.

Dale Aldridge 43lb 8oz Mirror DL3

Ricky Taylor 45lb Mirror DL4

Lake 4
Ricky Taylor peg 8 took 6 fish up to 45lbs on the Cell.

Matt Stone >>> peg 3 had 14 fish in commons of 43lbs and 44lbs and 3 x 40lb mirrors as well inc a 44lber and 45lbs the on Nosh.

Lake 5
Father and Son combo Steve & Ryan Furness took the chance to relocate from Lake 1 to Lake 5.

Dad, Steve had 7 fish on the Cell, and young Ryan took 11 fish inc, 2 x 39lb mirrors, and 2 x 40’s of 43lbs and 45lbs on the Cell.

That’s it for this season, we are still open all winter for those who fancy it, there’s already been a few 50’s out as I write, November is a good month. I will look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year until then have a good one.

Cheers, Matt.

P.S. Sorry to disappoint the lads from Lakes 1 and 2 as we are unable to download the photos from Matts' disc. If we can retrieve the data we will upload them at a later date.

w/e 23rd October 2009

The weather could not have been worse for the lads this week. Very changeable 2 cold frosty nights didn’t help things; the sunny days gave way to rain towards the end of the week. Still managed some nice fish though, another biggie from Lake 3 again but for most the weather did its worst.

Russ Rafferty 45lb Mirror DL4

Kelvin Dingsdale 42lb Mirror DL5

Ercan Ali managed to winkle out 11 fish. Lake 4 seemed to do rather well despite the bad conditions, as did Lake 5 seems like these 2 smaller waters are somewhat immune to the cold for some reason!!

Lake 5

Cheers lads, Matt.

w/e 16th October 2009

Conditions not to good I’m afraid bit of a frost at nights, sunny days because of the high air pressure at the moment.

Bailiff's Diary: Week 28
w/e 9th October 2009

The weather this week was overcast, slightly unsettled, wet and windy too, but with reasonable temperatures.

The fishing was slow to start, but improved as the week went on. Bags and stringers are doing well, again “clipping up” proving O.K. Better to target fish, than large beds of bait.

Lake 1
Top Rod
on 1 this week was Neil Thorogood “Snags” who landed 36 fish inc. 4 x 40’s all commons, 2 x 42lber, a 43lber and a 44lber all taken on Premier baits.

Tony Gouldsborough >>> “West Bar” was back again, just for the week this time. Tony managed to land 10 fish inc. 2 x 40’s the best a 46lb common on Tigernut boilies.

Anthony Rankin peg 5 caught a total of 15 fish and managed to lose 14 as well. I’d have a look at your rigs mate!! Anthony got off to a flyer his 1st fish of the session was a 55lb-8oz common on Nash baits.

Danny Burns >>> peg 14 took a 10 fish haul which included 3 x 40’s all of them commons. Danny was on the Cell.

Jay Titcombe >>> peg 7 had 9 fish out, which inc. 3 x 40’s. Commons of 43lb and 45lbs and a mirror of 44lbs on the Cell.

Duncan Raithby >>> pegs 3-4 had a 12 fish catch the best a 43lb common on the Active-8 and Scopex boilies.

Andrew Gage pegs 14 and 4 only managed 4 fish. Andy usually does really well, alas 37lbs the best he could muster this trip on A1/Scopex, (bet he won’t be using that again!!!)

Morgan Jones peg 15 did rather well, taking a 19 fish catch the best a common of 42lbs on his super duper homemade boilies which appeared to melt after 2 hours!!

Morgan Jones 42lb Common DL3

Barty 44lb Mirror DL3

Our old friend Roger Meier peg 10 had half a dozen fish which did include 2 x 40lb mirrors. The best and biggest for the week was one of 48lbs; Roger also managed to get hold of some of the much sort after “New Grange” from Mainline, which I believe will be launched in the spring.

Lake 4
Sadly the lads failed to arrive.

Lake 5
Phil Brindly peg 1 had 11 fish inc. 2 x 40’s both mirrors, the best a 48lber then added a 50lb-4oz mirror, on the Cell.

Phil Brindly 50lb Mirror DL5

Michael Lynn peg 4 took 11 fish as well the best a 44lb mirror on the Cell.

Thanks a lot for your company this week, you were indeed a great bunch of lads, and for Gods sake leave Barty alone he’s not Gay!! Not yet anyway!!!

More next week cheers Matt.

Bailiff's Diary: Week 27
w/e 2nd October 2009

The weathers still up in the air, warm days, cold nights and no wind, results slowed, but some good sized fish caught though. A 60lber from Lake 2, 17 x 40’s & 4 x 50’s from Lakes 1, 3 – 4 & 5 were slow too, fishing for one fish at a time, rather than heavy baiting for big hits, is the way to go this week. Low pressure front moving in for next week, so things should improve then. Bailiff Barty had a right result with a so & a 68lb from Lake 3.

Lake 1 Top Rod this week with a good catch for the conditions was M. Birkin who seemed to have spent one night in a shed load of swims. The effects paid off with a catch of 27 fish for the week, topped off by 5 x 40’s, 4 x 40lb commons and a 44lb mirror as well on Nash Baits.

Mick Pennington ‘’KingFishers’’ took a catch of 17 fish and 3 x 40’s up to 44lbs on the Nash.

John Rockey >>> ‘’Beach’’ winkled out 11 fish for the trip, the best fish being a 41lb mirror and topped off with a lovely 47lb common. Johns bait was The Cell, around 15kg was used.

Adam Higgins 53lb 1oz Common DL1

John Daines 51lb Common DL2

Lake 2 felt the effects of he crappy weather this week, Ian Wells catch of 18 fish was the best this week, the best just 30’s of 39lbs common & 39lbs mirror, taken on The Cell from Peg 16.

John Daines Peg 12 had an even dozen 12 the best however a nice 51lb common. John was using The Cell and Fusion Boilies.

My old mate Tommy Onslow pegs 1 & 18 normally hauls wherever he goes, but Tom only managed a 12 fish catch on the Active-8.

Martin Fishwick Peg 23 had an11 fish catch with fish up to 39 lbs on the Cell, just 5kgs.

Richard Read Peg 7 had 4 takes lost 3 of them, but managed to hang on to the best one, lucky he did cos it went 60lbs-2ozs. Richard used 2kg of Dynamites Baits.

Richard Read 60lb 2oz Common DL2

Paul Anders 43lb 5oz Mirror DL2

Nicky Milner Peg 17 had a haul of 11 fish for the week, using just 5kg of Tigarnut Boilies.

Ian Grover >>> Peg 10 had them up to 42lbs on the New Grange Bait.

Oops missed one!!! Matthew Wass Peg 20-27 had the Top Catch 24 fish (not the 18 of Ians) being the best. Matts haul included 2 x40’s of 42lb-4oz and 43lbs-14ozs on Vortex, 18kgs.

Matt Wass 43lb 14oz Common DL2

Liam Russell 46lb Common DL3

Lake 3, slow going but did some great fish though for instance Liam Russell peg 14 had 5 fish Inc 3 x 40’s commons of 42lb-8ozs and 46lbs and a 46lb mirror as well on The Cell-Active-8 combo, 10kgs.

Keith Trueman peg 6 used his spice pop ups and 4kg of bait to take & fish up to 40lbs.

Keith Trueman 39lb Common DL3

Lee Hooper 42lb 10oz Common DL3

Lee Hooper Peg 4 used the same tactics, Indian Spice pop-ups on 1kg of bait to take 8 fish including 3 x 40’s up to 45lb-8ozs. Lee tells me he beat his P.B. 3 times in the first 3 hours.

Mick Buckley Peg 7 took 8 fish on The Cell, with his best a 40lb mirror.

Mick Buckley 40lb 5oz Mirror DL3

Barty (The Monk) holding a Big Girl DL3

Barty fished the week with the lads on 3. He had 14 fish, 40’s of 40lb, 42lb 2 x 44lbs and a 46lber.

At 1am he had just landed a 56lb-4oz common, doing the honours with a photo when his middle rod roared off, and would you believe it, he landed a new record, 68lb-10oz, doubtless the same fish as before that ‘’Nibbler’’ had. Barty was using the New Grange bait from MainLine.

The New Grange had been doing really well everywhere. I may well stock it for next season instead of the Activ-8, ‘’what do you lads think’’???

The New Grange and good old Cell for next year!!!

Lake 4, saw just 2 anglers last week Les Mayhew & Lynne Harding. Les caught 6 and Lynne caught 12, along with 3 cats of 42, 54 and 61lbs, all on The Cell and Active-8 combo.

On Lake 5 Luke Noakes peg 2 struggled a bit, mainly with the 100lb plus cat that he landed on his Cell boilie.

Luke Noakes 100lb+ Catfish DL5

Lake 5 also saw Ricky Pye peg 1 with 10 fish including 2 x 40’s up to 42lbs mirror on The Cell.

Tony Pye peg 8 had a 42lber on The Cell.

Hopefully the wild, wet and windy weather may change things for the better next week.

There’s only a few weeks left now lads, but the Euro has gone through the roof again, so we recommend that only small bits & pieces you need you living with you, as there is nothing we can do with the French side of things. Cheers Lads.

Speak again next week
Matt.
