Bailiff's Diary: July 2010
w/e 24th July

Well another good week fishing, and weather-wise, a bit cooler this trip with highs of just 31 degrees and 12 – 14 at nights mainly sunny, and a bit of rain towards the end of the session. You still need those mossie sprays lads, I’ve done a bit of research and the best and longer lasting repellants are those that contain the most ‘DEET’ I’ve just got some the 95 per cent DEET off the internet (just Goggle Mosquito repellants) and make your own mind up!!

A good amount of quality fish came out this week, as ever bags and sticks doing the bizz accurate baiting and ‘clipping-up’. Another great bunch of lads, most of them had P.B’s as well, with a total of 9 x 50’s.

Gary Rand 49lb Mirror DL1

I’ll start as usual over on Lake 1, where this weeks “Top Bombin” award goes to <<< Gary Rand >>> with his haul of 41 fish including 3 x 40’s a 40lb Common and 2 x 40lb Mirrors of 45lbs and 49lbs. Gary used 20kg of the Cell to take his catch.

Gary went on to say on his catch report form “I’ve been to the Dreamlakes 3 times now, and enjoyed myself each time, the fishing has been very good, beat my P.B twice this week, the food and bailiffs have been excellent, no complaints, each time I’ve always fished Lake 1 and each time I’ve had great results, will be back soon!!

Jason Rust >>> on the “Beach” had a 29 fish catch, J’s best a 43lb-4oz common taken on his Vision baits.

Also on a 29 fish haul was Tim Wilmot >>> in the “Unknown”, Tim had a 40lb mirror and is best this trip was a 50lb common on the Cell and New Grange.

Tim kindly misunderstood the catch report form and where it says total catch he's gone to all the trouble of adding up all the fish weights and Tim’s total for the week was 687lbs of fish.

Tim Wilmot 50lb Common DL1

Rob Wilmot 43lb Common DL1

Tim’s brother Rob did the same thing as well (you're not the 1st, nor the last I think guys, thanks all the same!!)

Well <<< Rob Wilmot >>> next door in the “Lodge” took a 23 fish catch, with a total weight of 659lbs Rob’s best being 2 x 40’s both commons of 40lbs and 43lbs. Again as brother Tim they both used 17 and half kilos of the Cell and New Grange.

I’ve just done a quick sum on my phones calculator, think I have done it right, 659 divided by 23 = 28.65lbs as the average weight of Rob’s catch. Well we learn something new everyday!!

Andy Allen in the “Chimneys” and then the “Deer Dip” took 9 fish for the week on his Scopex Squid 5kg in total.

Adam Conway >>> in the “Snags” had just 7 out, the best however being a rather large common of 55lbs-8ozs, Adam used 10kgs of the Cell for the trip.

Brian Conway next door in the “Kingfishers” took a 9 fish catch again on 10kgs of the Cell.

Darren Dingley “Cherries / Gables” took I believe a 9 fish catch on his home-made Maple-Ade boilies, and others of Shrimp and Garlic 3kg in total.

Steve Bishop >>> fished the “Slope” then moved into the opposite arm in “Herbies Hole” to take a 12 fish catch, Steve’s best a 47lb – 4oz common taken on 10kg of the Cell.

Steve Bishop 47.4lb Common DL1

Ben Bartoff “Sunset” took unlucky 13 which included 2 x 40’s but sadly Ben’s omitted to write down their weights. I do know however that his bait was the Tigernut D.L. Specials just 5kgs!!

Adam Hamblin “Bailiffs” took a 15 fish catch on 20kg of the Cell, no monsters sadly!!

Dave Walker 53.10lb Common DL1

Unlike <<< Dave Walker >>> on the “West Point” with a catch of just 8 fish, half of which were over 40lbs, 2 x 40lbers being commons of 40lbs – 10ozs and 45lbs -12ozs and a 48lb – 2oz mirror, not being satisfied with that lot, Dave also hooked a common of 53lbs-10ozs on his Pineapple and RR baits, 15kgs in total.

Paul Wheedon >>> “3 Steps” also took an 8 fish catch, the best a 43lb common, on the Cell/Grange combo.

Lake 2
‘Top Rod’ on 2 this week with a good haul of 40 fish was Ben Murphy >>> in peg 8, in actual fact he’s updated his catch report form, must have been this morning, and it's up to 45 fish now!! Ben was using the Cell, his best for the week a 49lb common.

Dan Deboo in 27 took a catch of 16 fish with a best of 43lbs – 2ozs on the Cell.

Ben Murphy 49.8lb Common DL2

<<< John Champ in peg 30 had a 20 fish haul with fish up to 46lbs – 13ozs on the Tigernut D.L. Specials.

Jonathon Berry in peg 11 had 8 fish on the Cell and KG1 and tutti frutti as well!!

Jonny Fletcher >>> in 25 had 19 fish out including 3 x 40’s, a common of 40lbs – 3ozs a mirror of 45lbs – 10ozs and a Grassie of 49lbs – 5ozs on 20kgs of the Cell.

Also on 19 fish is Mike Jarvis in peg 23 again on the Cell, 20kgs that is, as well!!

Tony Goble in 29 used a mix of Cell and Vision baits to take a 9 fish haul.

Tom Riley in 4 had 7 up to 42lbs – 12ozs on the Cell.

Jack Scott Roberts in 17 had a good catch of 36 fish on his Vision baits.

Keith Basham did just that, in peg 16 with a dozen fish haul caught on the Cell and infinity baits Garlic fishmeals.

Steve Basham on the same bait took a 16 fish catch from peg 15.

Nick Fihelebon in peg 21 had that unlucky 13, but luckily as ever Nicks best was a rather large Grassie of 49lbs – 2ozs on 12kgs of the Cell.

Neil Forrest >>> peg 3 took 11 fish for his troubles on the Cell/Grange combo, Neil’s best a 40lbs – 8oz common.

Ben Soane >>> in peg 6 had a 16 fish catch, Ben’s best being a 44lb – 2oz common and a 53lb – 14oz common as well as!! Ben’s fish came to the Cell boilies, 10kg lasting the week.

Ben Soane 53.14lb Common DL2

Lee Hall 54.8lb Common DL2

<<< Lee Hall peg 10 had a 20 fish catch on 10kg of the Cell/Grange combo, Lee’s best however a chunky looking common of 54lbs.

Ian Forrest >>> peg 2 had a 23 fish haul again on the Cell/Grange combo. Ian’s best a 42lb plus Grassie on 15kgs of bait.

That’s it for 1 and 2. Now down to Lakes 3 – 4 – 5.

Lake 3
Matt Maskell >>> peg 14 was “Top Rod” on 3 this week only just though, with a 22 fish haul, but what a haul, who wouldn’t go home happy with a 43lber a 50lb common, and then a real biggie of 69lbs – 8ozs, Matt used 15kg of the Cell. Well done mate!!

“The Shrimper” Josh Boyes had 11 fish for the week on his Cell and Fusion.

Matt Maskell 69.8lb Common DL3

Nathan Pike 44.6lb Mirror DL3

Adam Griffiths peg 10 had 10 carp and a couple of cats on the Grange/Cell combo, 10kg of Cell and 2 and a half of Grange.

<<< Nathan Pike peg 12 had 11 fish including 4 x 40’s, 3 x 40lb commons of 43lbs- 46lbs -2ozs and 46lbs – 8ozs and a mirror of 44lb – 6ozs on the Cell and Active-8, 23kg in total.

Craig (The Jock) Evans 52.10lb Common DL3

Lake 4
Only had 2 guys turn up this week, two young lads from Doncaster filed to make the coach on Friday. We could not contact them as their phone was switched off. They didn’t contact us either on the night or since, I just hope they are OK. If it does go “tits up” on route let us know if you're running late or cannot make it!!

P.S. Anyone going to Dover leave a bit earlier as there are some bad road diversions near the Relyon car park i.e. Coombe Valley Road and a few are having trouble finding the coach!!

Mick Trench 49lb Common DL4

Mick and Bruce Trench had the place to themselves, <<< Mick had the most 23 including 4 x 40’s up to 48lbs, that was a mirror by the way, Mick was on the Cell.

Bailiff's Diary: July 2010
w/e 16th July

We had very warm days and nights, with the odd severe storm (15mins) and unsettled winds. We lost the tops of a few of the poplars on the lakes, and any odd branches blown into the lakes were soon collected by the lads in a boat, and into the tipper. As I said the day time highs of 30 degrees.

The fishing being a bit slower this trip, “Zigs” still producing during day light hours and as ever bottom baits during the night, with most takes coming in the early hours. Sticks and bags producing more this week compared to large beds of baits!!

Bailiff's Diary: July 2010
w/e 8th July

Weather eased up this week, highs of just 36 degrees, night time temps down to around 12-16 degrees a bit more bearable for sleeping!!!

With this very hot weather the old “Zigs” have been doing well during the days, pulling out some bonus fish, bottom baits through the night solid P.V.A bags and sticks producing most fish. Good bunch of lads, we had a good laugh with plenty of ice cold beers, helped the lads have a really good week!!!

The lodge is chocca with the lads watching the W.C. final, its 0.0 at present a bit of a tight game, I still want the Dutch to do it, let's hope the 2nd half is better!!!

Bailiff's Diary: July 2010
w/e 2nd July

Wow!! Wot a scorcher!! This week saw in summer proper, I can tell you it was really really hot 37-40 degrees makes it almost unbearable then to top it off, night time temps of 19-21 degrees make it difficult to sleep, lots of lads just kipping on the grass. Two things to remember sun tan cream and for these long hot nights anti-mossie spray as well guys!!

Due to the excessive heat, most fish were caught at night, the fishing being somewhat sporadic due to the heat, and lack of a breeze, most fish fell to bottom baits, although zigs did produce a few during the daylight hours, small light beds of bait are recommended with of course the crumbled boilies in the sticks and bags.

P.S. Mossie repellant is a must!! I am told.

Now for the football!! Can’t believe the Germans beat the Argies so easily, mind you it was good to see that fat prat Maradonna's face at the final whistle, shame they couldn’t both lose though.
Now all the African teams are out, perhaps we’ll hear less of those stupid bleedin trumpets, we predict a Holland-German final, come on you “Oranje” they hate the Germans, more than we do since they were occupied during the war (which we won by the way.) This time next week it will all be over.

Can’t believe they kept Cappello!!!

Right back to the important stuff lads, the catch reports, I’ll start as ever on Lake 1.
