Bailiff's Diary: May 2010
w/e 28th May

Weather wise we had a few hot sunny days at the start of the week, enough in fact for the fish to start spawning, well they have to do it at some stage, sadly no one wants it to be on their week, least it's out of the way now!!!

Obviously this affected the fishing results. So for the sake of ease as it was such a slow week, a dozen fish being a good catch, it's not worth doing my usual catch report so I’ll just leave you this week with a photo gallery of the lads.

Cheers, Matt.

Bailiff's Diary: May 2010
w/e 21st May

I’ll start as usual with the weather we had this week, although we had a good amount of sun with highs of 20 degrees, (24 on others) the changeable winds made it rather chilly being mainly North/Easterly again!!

It was not a prolific week, numbers wise but some good fish, considering the previous weeks fished really well, again bags and sticks, together with accurate baiting did the job. We still managed 8 carp over 50lbs during the week though!!

Overall we had another group of blinding anglers again this week, always a pleasure.

Poor old Barty the Bailiff even though he was doing Lake 1 this week, he popped down Lake 3 to congratulate one of the lads on their 50lber and managed to get himself thrown in, yet again, poor guy had his new phone in his pocket!! So check for valuables first please lads!! We don’t earn that much, as to afford new phones each week!!

Lake 1
I’ll start as ever on Lake 1 this week, “Top Rod” on 1 was Ian Sawyer who had set up in the “Sunset” and caught a grand total of 27 fish for the week. 6 x 20’s and 21 x 30’s that was 14 x 30 Commons and 7 x 30+ Mirrors. Ian used 15kgs of Mainlines Cell and Grange boilies.

Gary Cambell “Deer Dip” ended up the week on unlucky 13, but his luck changed for the better with a 51lb Common on the Cell and Grange Combo, 25kgs in total.

Bernie Cambell in the “Unknown” managed to winkle out an 11 fish catch, which included no less than 4 x 40’s sadly Bernies neglected to write down the weights of his fish, needless to say we can guess which bait Bernie chose!!

Ian Kirkbride 46lb 8oz Common DL1

<<< Ian Kirkbride “West Bar” managed a 10 fish catch, the best a 46lb-8oz Common, on the Cell and or MGM.

Jim Moorhouse “Cherries” had a total of 19 fish and again 4 x 40lbers and again no fish weights written down (please lads I need this info for everyones benefit) on the catch report form!! Jim did however mention he’d used 30kgs of Mark 1 liver, and thought the holiday was PUKKA!! Can’t argue there!!

Danny Armitage >>> “Kingfishers” – “Beach” Dan split his time between the 2 spots and caught 9 fish up to 43lbs-12ozs on Nash SSL boilies.

Grant Gardener >>> “West Point” by Thursday had up to 14 fish topped by a big Common of 53lbs-8ozs on just 6kgs of Cell and MGM.

Brian Bridgeman “Pads” took a 7 fish catch on Fusion and XLR8, 15kgs.

Danny Armitage 43lb 12oz Common DL1

Colin Greenshields 45lb Mirror DL1

<<< Colin Greenshields “Hornets” had just 4 fish but half were 40’s a 41lb Common and a Mirror of 45lbs taken on 6kg of the New Grange.

Mick Trott >>> “East Bar” had 6 up to 41lbs on the Cell or Fusion I won’t bother with the others as no ones written down any fish weights!!!

Let’s try over on Lake 2
This weeks “Top Bombin” award goes to Terry Farrell >>> who fished peg 1 and ended the week with a catch of 36 fish, again 4 x 40’s one of which was a 40lb grassie a 40lb Mirror and a brace of 40lb Commons and yet again no weights have been written down, except to say that he’d used 20kg of Cell.

Terry Farrell 39lb Grass DL2

Dave Baldwin 28lb Leather &
Wayne Brooks 41lb Common DL2

<<< Dave Baldwin peg ? had a 10 fish catch, the biggest for the week being a 47lb.0z Mirror, Dave was on the Cell or New Grange just 10kg was enough for the week.

<<< Wayne Brooks >>> in peg 13 only managed to catch 2 x 40’s both Commons of 40lbs and 41lbs on the New Grange.

John Whitby >>> pegs 26-15-17; John made a few moves during the week to take his 19 fish haul 10/10 for effort mate. John was rewarded with a brace of 40lbers a 40lb-8oz Common and a 45lb-8oz Mirror, rounded off John’s week 12 and half kgs of Cell.

Andy Hughes >>> peg 23 had a 13 fish catch this included a 41lb Grass carp, these things take off like rockets, and usually fight even harder on the banks, they’ve been known to rip thro’ your landing nets too!! Andy’s successful method was 10kgs of the Cell.

Andy Hughes 41lb Common DL2

Graham Cameron 55lb 2oz Common DL2

<<< Graham Cameron, peg 7 again had unlucky 13 however his luck changed when he landed a 48lb-2oz Common, then followed that up with a big Common of 55lbs-3ozs, Graham got through no less than 30kgs of the Cell during the session.

Ian Bushall >>> pegs 27 then 16 had a total of 21 fish for the week topped by a brace of chunky Mirrors of 42lbs-8ozs and a best of 45lbs-8ozs, Ian used 10kgs of the Cell during the week.

Colin Binks >>> peg 9 did well although he had 12 fish, a 48lb-8oz Common is no to be sniffed at either nor his monster 52lbs grass carp too!!! I can only imagine how hard that one fought mate! Colin was using the Cell, 20kgs in all.

David Timmins peg 20 took a 7 fish haul Daves best for the week another chunky Common of 48lbs-3ozs on the Cell topped as ever by a piece of plastic corn.

Colin Binks 52lb Grass DL2

Paul Wakerling peg 4 ended the session with a 20 fish haul, a Grassie of 31lbs and a best Common of 40lbs, on the Cell again!!

Darren Gray peg 2 also had that unlucky 13 for the week, no monsters but good fun, again Darren was on the Cell.

Finally for 2 this week Phil Binks peg 10 had a catch of 15 fish for the week on the Cell as ever. Down the track to Lake 3 – 4 – 5.

Craig Pearman 45lb 8oz Common DL3

Over to Lake 3
<<< Craig Pearman peg 16 had a 7 fish catch including a brace of 40lbers a 44lb-7oz Common and a 45lb-8oz Mirror made Craig’s week.

Richard Stone >>> peg 3 had a best of 56lbs a monster Common again on the Cell.

Paul Whitfield peg 12 managed an 8 fish catch, on the Cell or Smokey Mackeral.

Jose Valter Freitas peg 2 (Harry Rednapp nearly signed him!!) only caught 3 fish for his efforts, the best a 46lber on the Cell.

Malcolm Bullock >>> peg 9 had an 8 fish catch with fish up to 47lbs a Common, then with hours to go managed to winkle out another big Common, this time 53lbs it went. Malc was on the Cell.

Ian Scott >>> peg 7 had 10 fish for the week up to 40lbs on the Cell. Ian Scott peg 8 had an even dozen (12) which included 3 over the magical 40lb mark; Ian was using Cell and Hinders Nuts boilies.

Mal Bullock 47lb 4oz Common DL3

Trevor Knight 43lb Mirror DL4

Lake 4
Saw "Top Rod" <<< Trevor Knight peg 5 manage a 20 fish haul the best a 40lb Mirror (again no weights) on just 5kg of Cell.

Chris Cade peg 2 had an 11 fish haul sadly no monsters for Chris this trip; Chris was again using just 5kg of the Cell.

Kevin Benham >>> peg 3 also caught an 11 fish bag, the best also went 40lbs and a surprise grassie of 28lbs on the Cell.

Finally Alan Taylor >>> stuck in a corner (peg 8) like “Billy no mates” struggled for a bite all week, this on a week when every lake was fishing slowly, finally pulled it off in the last couple of days with 8 fish in quick order the best and took the pot for the biggest amongst the lads with a breath taking 50lb-4oz Mirror. So it all turned out for the best!! During the week the near suicidal Al was threating to throw himself of the toilet block, but one phone call from Zen managed to talk him down, and the promise of a Tee Shirt was enough to get Al “up n’atem” again.

Alan Clouseau Taylor 50lb 4oz Mirror DL4

Mark Kingsmill 'aka Hagrid' 47lb Mirror DL5

Finally Lake 5, which to be honest didn’t really fish well at all.

<<< Mark Kingsmill >>> had 8 out and the best a 47lb-8oz Mirror.

Still that might change by next week, till then cheers lads, Matt.

Bailiff's Diary: May 2010
w/e 15th May

The weather started out better this week up to 18 degrees Sat and Sunday cold at nights though, most of the lads are in their winter gear, for the rest of the week it got much colder. We even had 2-3 degrees frost back in Blighty I hear.

Needless to say they aren’t called "Dreamlakes" for nothing and despite the weather the fishing turned around on Lake 1 for instance the fish moved out in numbers from the Snags and spread around the lake, "which was nice" 3 of the lads on 1 were on 40 or so from various areas. Lake 3 got a "kicking" from Rick Baker with a stonking catch of biggies, Dave Moult on 4 took 50 fish in total, we had over 80 x 40’s 10x 50’s and a 67lber good to see everything’s back to normal!!!

The best methods at the moment (in general) short 3”-4” hooklenghs on the hard gravel areas, bags, sticks with scattered freebies the 10mm Hi-Viz pop-ups, that’s the Mainline pineapple pops, on their own or topping off a Cell boilie have been doing well these past weeks whilst on 2 the Zigs have produced a few fish during the day. Plus several bonus grassies!!

Brian Warrick 45.10lb Common DL1

Lake 1
It would seem that this weeks "Top Rod" was Welshman <<< Brian Warrick >>> “Snags” the bulk of the fish had moved out, but Brian still managed to winkle out a 41 fish haul, on his clever little method of winching his baits across to the far bank (don’t ask!!) produced a load of 30’s plus 3 x 40’s up to 45lbs, in all Brian used 20kgs of Grange and Cell boilies during the week.

Richard Hall >>> in the “Unknown” had 6 out the best 2 x 40’s of 40lbs and 42lbs on the Cell.

David Tugwell >>> “Chimneys” had 11 fish for the session, which included 2 x 40’s, sadly Dave never wrote down their weights, but did mention he used 3,956 boilies during the course of the week, Cell of course!!

Dave Williams “Haven” had unlucky 13, which included 2 x 40’s as well, no weights here (yet again) Dave used 25kg of the Cell.

Richard Hall 41.14lb Mirror DL1

Paul Buckeridge 43.4lb Common DL1

<<< Paul “Bucky” Buckeridge who set up on the “Beach”, hopeful that the fish might end up on the bar, at the opposite end of the lake from the Snags, a gamble that did pay off as Bucky was the only one catching for a while.

His eventual total of 40 fish, I believe, included 6 x 40’s as well, Paul used 35kg of Cell to keep the fish in front of him for the next 5 days!!

Then we had the "Mancs" all 4 set up in a line, they were 'avin it' and so were the fish. The ring leader, who just appened to look like Bez from the Happy Mondays, was set up in the "Hornets." Scott McGregor >>> who ended the week with a catch of 19 fish including 5 x 40’s up to 49lbs-12ozs and rounded off the session with a 58lb-2oz Mirror. "Mad for it they were."
Bez used monster crab which just happens to be the most stinkiest bait in the world!!

Scott (Bez) McGregor 58.2lb Mirror DL1

Scott Greathead 49.8lb Common DL1

Scott's mate Scott was in the next swim "Westbar" (No imagination when it comes to names up t’North) hence referred to as Dez Res.
<<< Scott Greathead also winkled out a 19 fish haul which also included 3 x 40’s the best, yet again just short of the 50lb mark at 49lbs-8ozs Scott (Des Res) used just 15kg of Monster Crab (smelt like half a ton.)

Chris Leonard >>> "Nelsons" again on the crab, only managed 4 fish the best however a 41lb mirror.

John Arnold “Cherries” used 10kg of the Dreamlakes Specials to take a 10 fish catch, again a brace of 40’s a 41lb Mirror and a Common of 44lbs-6ozs.

Young Arron Scott >>> “Ladies Lair” had a load of fish just fishing to the point of the spit, young “A-Rod” intercepted the fish as they passed between the arms baiting underarm from the spit itself A-Rod got thro 30kgs of Cell and had getting on for 40 fish, 3 of which were over 40lbs sadly the rascal didn’t fill in his catch report either.

Finally we were joined by no other than the old fat Zen who fished the bar from the "Sunset" swim...

A Rod 42.8lb Common DL1

Zen 58.12lb Common DL1

... a coupla days of nothing saw Zen start to catch, but only from the top of the bar, that’s roughly 100 yards and bloody hard work for a fat bloke. But Zen went on to show us he had lost none of it (weight that is!!) and caught 25 fish in total including 3 x 40’s and a P.B Common of 58lbs-12ozs, you should of seen him struggle to hold it (after seeing that I don’t want to grow old). There was a great bunch of lads on all the Lakes and I know Zen really enjoyed his stay as well!! It’s when everyone’s blanking he starts to worry!!)

Right next onto Lake 2
Richard Hardy >>> peg 3 took an 18 fish catch again including a brace of 40’s plus a bonus Common of 51lbs-8ozs, Rich used 25 kg of Cell and Maple 8.

Mark Brown peg 2 had a total of 10 fish, sadly no other info weights or baits.

Andy Knights peg 23 had a 15 fish catch 7 x 30’s plus a large Common of 43lbs-8ozs on the Cell ad A-8 combo.

Richard Hardy 51.10lb Common DL2

Sam Lempereur 42lb Common DL2

Scott Singleton-Davies peg 13 had 13 fish unlucky for some, Scott however had 13 fish and they were all over 30lbs not bad hauling mate!! Scott used 20kgs of the Mainline Cell boilies.

Our French friend <<< Sam Lempereur peg 1 spent a week with us along with a couple of his English pals and “Le winkled” out 16 fish including 4x40’s, the French know when something’s good (just look at Thierry Henry) and Sam opted to use the Cell baits.

Chris Thresh peg ? had a best of 46lbs a Common on the Active 8 no other info I’m afraid!! Harry King peg 28 had unlucky 13 with a best of 43lbs on the Cell and Maple-8 15kgs. Dave Pillman peg 11 took a total of 12 fish for the week on Premier and the Cell.

Trevor Marsham >>> peg 27, took a total catch of 14 fish, including a 38lb Grassie and 3 x 40lbers up to 45lbs and 46lbs on the Cell 10kg of it!

Young Max Marsham 13 years old, in peg 26 managed to catch 9 fish, again on the Cell.

Trevor Marsham 45lb Common DL2

Dave Moult 50.04lb Common DL4

Lake 4
This weeks "Top Bombin" award goes to our very own <<< Dave Moult.

He has been a regular since we started. Dave's fell in love with Lake 4, and books it for himself plus a coupla mates. This trip Dave caught exactly 50 fish for the week which included 5 x 40’s up to 45lb-2ozs all Mirrors plus a Common of 50lb-4ozs all fell to the Cell, Dave used just 15kgs for the session!!

Father and son Charlie and Danny Last also fish on 4.

Charlie >>> topped up with 18 fish on the Cell, with 2 x 40’s up to 44lb-8oz.

Son Danny Last >>> peg 3 had 25 fish which included two new P.B’s a Mirror of 49lb-8ozs and a Common of 42lb-8ozs again on the Cell.

Dan Last 49.8lb Mirror DL4

Richard Baker 67lb Common DL3

Lake 3
This has got to be the catch so far on 3.

<<< Richard Baker peg 7 had a total of 27 fish for the week just scattering Cell boilies and single hookbaits in the area saw Richard take 11 x 40’s up to 46lbs, 2 x 50’s up to 55-2ozs and a 67lb-2oz Common all on just 10kg of Cell boilies, even on the last night Rich landed the 45lber and the 55lber alright for some hey? Well done mate!!

Martin Barlow >>> peg 2 took a 7 fish catch with fish up to 54lbs a Common, again on the Cell.

Steve Procter pegs 11-10-16, managed a total 0f 18 fish again on the Cell.

Derek Massey peg 12 took a cool 22 fish catch including 5 x 40’s and a brace of 46lbers one Mirror and one Common, needless to say all on the Cell.

Martin Barlow 54.4lb Common DL3

Liam Wilkins 46.4lb Mirror DL5

Lake 5

<<< Liam Wilkins peg 1 had 10 fish up to 40lbs on the Cell, and finally Graham Carrol took an 8 fish catch on the Cell.

Well that’s it lads my wrist is killing me, doing two lots of diary reports in one go, so till next week!! Matt.

Bailiff's Diary: May 2010
w/e 7th May

Sorry for the delay guys, but it was my week off, this week. I’ve got the catch report forms here so I’ll go through them now!! The weather was unreal this week at home and here in France, highs of 10-11 degree’s I mean that’s a warm winters day, cold North winds really did affect the fishing and for some strange reason on nearly every lake the fish seemed to hold up out of the cold wind with the anglers who happened to be on the fish doing well, while the rest mostly watched!!

I’ll just cherry pick the best bits for Week 6 as I wasn’t here and just go by my info!!

Lake 1
The “Top Bombin” award this week goes to Paul Sandford who set-up in the Snags, not knowing that in a coupla days time every fish in the lake would be in front of him, Paul capitalized on his good fortune, by casting short of the fish as not to spook them, caught less, but held them there!! Good angling Paul ended the week with 63 fish, which included what we refer to as a full house everything from a double up to 60lbs. Paul amassed 1 double, 30 x 20’+s 26 x 30s 4 x 40s a 56lb-8oz Common, and the “long common” of 64lbs-3ozs. Paul used just 8kgs of Cell to hold and catch his fish.

Paul Sandford 64.3lb Common DL1

Paul’s son Josh >>> in Kingfishers (next door) managed a 14 fish catch which included 4 x 40s up to 45lbs, again using 10kg of Cell, plus similar tactics to Dad!!

Another catch of note from Lake 1 was Mick Seber >>> “Sunset” with a 50lb Common (Cell).

Joe Player >>> "Slope" used a different tactic, he walked around the point and baited up the far margin by hand, then cast over all 3 rods to the same area, which worked quite well as Joe landed 41 fish on the tactic’s, baiting up with a kilo of bait per fish (3 rods)

Joe used 45kgs of the Cell, and used Cell and or the Hi-Viz 10mm pineapple pop-ups on the hook. Joe’s best a 56lb-14oz Mirror, 5 x 40s up to 46lbs-6ozs.

Joe Player 56.14lb Mirror DL1

Rob Hosey 50lb Grass DL2

Richard Marriot >>> "Chimneys" 9 fish to 56lbs again on the Cell.

Lake 2
<<< Robert Hosey peg 9 had a total of 15 fish Inc a 40lber a Common and one of those mean fighting Grassies this one went 51lbs-8ozs; Rob was using the New Grange baits.

Matt Payne >>> peg 17 had a 12 fish bag the best a 42lb Common on a mix of Dreamlake Specials (tuttis) and CPU.

Mark Seymour >>> peg 8 had a 9 fish catch which included 3 x 40s a Mirror of 40lbs, plus two Commons of 41lbs and 46lbs, on 10kg of either the Cell or New Grange.

M Carter peg 22 had a total of 14 fish no whackers to report sadly all fell to his XLR8 baits.

Mike Dixon peg 14 had that unlucky 13 on Grange tipped with plastic corn.

Mark Seymour 46lb Common DL2

Darren Little 40lb plus Mirror DL2

<<< Darren Little peg 19 only had 6 fish, but good in those cold horrible conditions topped by a brace of 40’s, both Mirrors on the Grange + Plum, tipped with corn.

John Taylor peg 11, winkled out another of those 6 fish catches, and again included a brace of 40’s, a 44lb Common and a Mirror of 46lbs, on the Active-8 and Cell.

Tommy Nicholson peg 30 had a 24 fish catch, using 20kgs of the New Grange.

Sean Lloyd peg 27 had 7 up to 47lbs a Common on Mainline baits, that's all I've got for Lake 2.

One final word, the 3-4 idiots who made a habit of leaving a mess and couldn’t be bothered to get any euros on the boat over, don’t bother trying to re-book!!! No-one wants you back!!!

Lakes 3-4-5
Lake 3 suffered with the cold, Lakes 4 and 5 fished well, take Lake 5 for instance.

Lake 5
Lawrence Hubbard >>>
pegs 6 – 7 took a blinding catch of 55 fish, 28 x 20’s, 16 x 30’s and 5 x 40’s all Mirrors of 41lbs-2oz, 41lbs-6ozs, 46lbs-8ozs and 47lb-2ozs, and a bonus Cat of 79lbs, just to make sure his arms really ached by the end of the week. Lawrence’s fish all fell to the Cell.

Lawrence Hubbard 46.7lb Mirror DL5

Kevin Felts 51.12lb Mirror DL5

<<< Kevin Felts >>> peg 4 had an even dozen fish, the best a lovely Mirror of 51lbs-12ozs again on the Cell.

Peter Caines peg 1 had a total of 26 fish including 11 x 30’s up to 39lbs and 4 x 40’s up to 44lbs on just 8kg of the Cell.

Neil Spencer peg 5 had a catch of just 19 fish the best 40lbs+ and a 50lb Cat on the Cell.

Lake 4
Mark Dickens >>> peg 5 had a total of 19 fish for the week, the best a 45lb Mirror on New Grange.

Joe Irwin peg 3 had a dozen fish including 3 chunky cats of 53lbs – 60lbs – and 68lbs on the N-Gage.

"Skin" Irwin >>> pegs 8 or 6 took a 17 fish haul, the best a brace of 2 x 45lbs Mirrors on the Cell.

Sam 'Skin' Irwin 45.2lb Mirror DL4

Lee Allnatt 45lb Common DL3

Lake 3
Carl Jenkins >>> pegs 7 – 5 and 1, took a total of 7 fish (surprised they could keep up with him) however the moving worked as Carl ended the week with 3 x 40’s all Commons of 40lbs, 44lbs and 45lbs all on 5kg of Cell.

<<< Lee Allnatt pegs 16 and 7 took a total of unlucky 13 fish, but luckily 5 of them were over 40lbs, 41lb-4oz, 44lb-8oz 46lb-9oz and 45lb-9oz and a Mirror of 45lbs-6ozs, again on just 5kg of Cell.

Andy Titchener >>> peg 8 took a 15 fish catch including 3 x 40’s up to 43lbs-4ozs.

Buzz Burnett >>> peg 12 took a total of 14 fish for the week, including 3 x 40’s as well, a 42lb Mirror and Commons of 42lbs and 46lbs on a mix of Grange or Cell.

Pete Mayes peg 10 had 8 out, the best 2 x 40lb Commons of 43lb-8ozs and 44lb-8ozs on a mix of Cell and New Grange (10kgs.)

Adrian 'Buzz' Burnett 46lb Common DL3

James Pye 56.2lb Common DL3

<<< James Pye peg 15 had the biggest for the week on 3 with a rather nice 56lb-2oz Common, on the Cell yet again.

That concludes by the way our worst week catch or weather wise for this time of the year, and it's forecast for more of the same cold weather again next week.

Matt.
