Bailiff's Diary: October 2010
w/e 30th October

What a bummer for the last week of the season, cold frosty nights, and bright sunny days continued from the previous week, and as we predicted last week the fishing was bound to suffer!!

We had a lovely bunch of lads again this week, determined to enjoy themselves despite the weather, they understood we would be in for a tricky time. Couple of the lads had a few fish though.

Colin O'Gorman 43lb Common DL1

Lake 1
<<< Colin O’Gorman >>> on ‘Sunset’ had 18 fish including 4 x 40lbers of 42lbs – 43lbs on the Cell.

Andy Frost >>> had 5 up to 41lbs.

Charlie Metson ‘Hornets’ had an even half dozen.

Lawrence Hattley >>> ‘Slope’ had a best of 42lbs.

And Richard Beales >>> ‘Slope’ then ‘Lodge’ had 9 out.

Lawrence Hattley 43lb Mirror DL1

Lee Wilmshurst 38lb Mirror DL2

Lake 2
This Lake really turned off this week, probably cos Zen and his brother Myron were here. Myron >>> did the best with a 7 fish catch, Zen had just 2, the best a scraper common of 40lbs-11ozs on their plum flavoured Cell and New Grange.

Lee Simmonds 21-16 winkled out 4.

There were only a few other lads on the lake this week, which didn’t help.

Lake 3
Lee Hooper >>> (is that Lee Coopers bruvver?) in peg 4 caught 6 fish including a 49lb Common and a 54lber as well, on the Cell.

Lee Hooper 54.11lb Common DL3

Ian Maudsley 48.9lb Common DL3

<<< Ian and his Missus Carol Maudsley >>> were back again. Ian set up in peg 10 and took a 9 fish catch including a 46lb Mirror and a 48lb Common on his Premiers, apart from that, that’s it!!

Lake 4
The two lads on Lake 4 had 10 between them, Andy Leggett >>> a 38lb mirror and Casey Hallam >>> a 32lb common.

Andy Leggett 38lb Mirror DL4

Matt Cross 53.6lb Common DL5

Lake 5
And over on 5 Eddie Peacock took 8 fish.

Adam Thomas >>> had 2 x 40’s both Mirrors.

<<< Matt Cross had a 50lb Mirror, all on the Trigga Ice.

Well, that’s it for another year lads, we will spend the winter here, pruning trees and fishing our hearts out. It fishes well in winter so if you fancy a few days over here give the office a bell!!!

The new DVD-brochure is out now so email or phone for a copy.

See you all next Spring !!!!
Cheers Matt.

Bailiff's Diary: October 2010
w/e 23rd October

What a gruller it was this week, started off great, really mild weather for the first couple of day’s, then a couple of really bad frost’s -3’s in fact it was at the same time back at home they had 6-8 degree’s at night, those easterly side winds being responsible, sadly it really did slow down the sport.

Quite unexpected for this time of the year, as the last few weeks of October are good for the bigger fish, less but Bigger.

James De Luzy 44lb Common DL1

Lake 1
John Stevens >>> in the ‘’Snags’’ was best by a mile with an 18 fish haul 5 x 30’s but no biggie’s I'm afraid, which fell to the Cell.

<<< James De Luzy ‘’3 Steps’’ had 3 out up to 44lb’s on blood worm flavour boilies.

Jay Strickland 48.13lb Common DL1

Kurt Pottle 51.15lb Mirror DL2

Lake 2
<<< Kurtis Pottle was "Top Rod" here. The enterprising young lad kept on the move searching for rolling or bubbler’s and then moved onto them to take a 13 fish haul from swims 25-26-17-19 including a 43lb 10oz Common and 51lb 15oz Mirror.

Steve Keeley Peg 30 took a 9 fish catch with the best of 46lb’s a Common on the Cell.

Peter Andres >>> Peg 4 had 5 fish including and 41lber and then a 51lb Common as well.

Dave Smedley 52lb Common DL3

Lake 3
Nick Howard >>> did best with a 13 fish haul including 3 x 40’s Commons of 40lb 9oz’s and 45lb 15oz’s and a Mirror of 44lb 8oz’s again all on the Cell.

Young Farmer and Duke of Earl Andy Gage who picked Peg 2 managed a 6 fish catch sadly no monsters.

Kevin Ford >>> in Peg 6 took 4 fish including 42lb Mirror and 56lb Common on Matrix.

Kevin Ford 56.8lb Common DL3

Pete Hewitt 72.15lb Common DL3

<<< Peter Hewitt in 16 had 6 fish including 3 x 40lbers of 41lb 2oz’s, 44lb 13oz’s and 47lb 5 oz’s, and topped that lot off with one of the biggies it went to 72lb 15oz’s on the Cell.

Gavin Hewitt >>> peg 15 had a best of 44lb 10oz’s on the Cell.

Everyone caught from 1-3 fish sadly.

Lake 4
Paul Downing peg 8 had an even dozen (12) on the Cell.

Dave Wilson >>> in 5 had 3 up 50lb’s on the Cell.

Perry Towler in 6 had 7 out.

Dave Wilson 50.7lb Mirror DL4

Simon Bear 45lb Mirror DL5

Lake 5
All the lads on 5 struggled a bit, mainly 3 fish each or so on their Essex Carp Baits, with the best of 45lb’s for <<< Simon Bear, and Dave you were right I won't and I did!!!!!!

The weather looks much the same for next week sadly, a couple of bad frosts and then really mild as well, but too late, those frosts are the Kiss of Death.

Cheers, Matt.

Bailiff's Diary: October 2010
w/e 15th October

Weather wise it was a bit of a no-no, sunny days, colder nights and the higher air pressure, won’t be long before the frosts arrive at this rate. The fishing was a bit hard therefore, we suggested many different tactics, which did result in some good fish, but all in all it was quite slow!!

Ian Sawyer 42.4lb Common DL1

Lake 1
On Lake 1 for instance, <<< 'Top Rod' Ian Sawyer ‘Snags’ only landed 14 fish up to 40lbs on the Cell/Grange combo.

Bailiff's Diary: October 2010
w/e 8th October

Autumn nearly here lads, there’s a change in the weather coming over the next coupla weeks. Cooler days and more so the nights, they forecast around 5 degrees at nights and 12-15 during the days.

The high pressure system has started already, we had it during this week, with the sunny days and cooler nights too!! The weather did pick up, warmer towards the end of the week, as I am writing this it’s Sat 22 degree’s outside!!

In general the fishing slowed up a bit as well, still some good fish coming to the lads prepared to put that extra effort in, another great bunch of lads, we had a great laugh all week, most of whom have rebooked for next year, which says it all really!!!

Dave Williams 55lb Common DL1

Lake 1
No great shakes thus far, everyone caught in general between 4-10 fish each and just the one 50 surprisingly which fell to the rods of <<< Dave Williams in the ‘3steps’ who caught a total of 9 fish including two big commons of 44lbs and a rather larger 55lber as well, on a blend of either the Cell or New Grange.

Matt Gregory down in the ‘Snags’ had half a dozen fish on the Cell.

Wayne Bramley ‘Slope’ had 5 out on the Cell.

Darren Traynor >>> ‘Chimneys’ took a 10 fish haul, again on the Cell and still no monsters, seems like the bigger fish were affected by the weather more so!!

Darren Traynor 40lb 4oz Mirror DL1

Mick Traynor 41lb 8oz Common DL1

James Leake on the opposite bank ‘Pads’ took 4 fish on Cell.

<<< Mick Traynor ‘Lodge’ had 8 fish up to 41lbs on the Cell.

At least the fish have moved out of the ‘Snags’ arm, the lake fished fairly well all over, which is good for everyone!!

Duncan Dorrell >>> ‘East Bar’ also had 8 out on the Solar Club Mix.

John Cruise ‘West Point’ (weren’t you over a little while back??) managed an 8 fish catch on the New Grange.

Jamie Horsgood ‘West Bar’ had 5 fish.

Mick Easton >>> on the ‘Beach’ took 10 which happened to include 4x40’s, 3 x 40lb+ commons up to 43lbs and a lone 42lb mirror, all caught on the Cell.

Mick Easton 43lb 12oz Common DL1

Antony Rackhan 41lb Common DL1

Also on 10 fish was Liam Ryan in the ‘Cherries’ using the Cell.

<<< Anthony Rackham in ‘Herbies Hole’ took 8 fish up to 44lbs on the Cell.

Jamie Cundill ‘Gables’ had 7 out.

Lake 2
“Top Bomber” this week was Steve Slater >>> in peg 30, who took a 50 fish haul, with just one 40lber on the Cell.

Seems like the majority of the smaller fish were up towards the ‘lodge end’ of the lake, in fact we call it ‘pastie corner’ but when it ain’t fishing it’s the place to be!!

Steve Slater 45lb Mirror DL2

John Hollick 42lb 2oz Common DL2

Paul Smith ‘Bailiffs’ had 17 out, mainly smaller as well on the MK1 from Mainline (don’t think we will see that one out, if ever.)

Mick Shelton in peg 1 also took a 12 fish haul topped by a brace of 37’s on the Cell.

Eddie Smith peg 3 took 9 out on 20kg of Cell.

<<< John Hollick peg 29 had 6 up to 40lbs on Cell.

Jason La Rosa in 25 had 8 fish.

John Tingley >>> peg 9 took 7 fish.

Nick Webster had 5 out up to 40lbs.

Tom Wells had 4 fish including 2 x 40lbers both mirrors of 44lbs and 45lbs on the Cell.

John Goulding >>> in 16 had 6 up to 43lbs on Cell.

John Goulding 43lb Common DL2

Carl Conrad 50lb 2oz Common DL3

Lake 3
<<< Carl Conrad >>> peg 10 was “Top Rod” with 19 fish, looks like he had 7 x 40’s out, 4 x 40lbs commons of 41lbs, 41lbs, 46lbs and 49lbs, and a 45lber, he’s not finished there either, topped it off with a 50lb-2oz common.

Mick Smith >>> in peg 14 had 4 fish including a 41lber and a mirror of 44lbs-14ozs on Matrix/Cell.

Mark Wing in 3 had 5 fish out also on Matrix/Cell.

Steve Dyson peg 2 had 5 out.

George Wing in 6 only had a couple, using his ‘own bait’ and Cell. Surely you didn't put in 50kg of bait!!

Mick Smith 44lb 14oz Common DL3

John Moncure 58lb 8oz Common DL3

<<< John Moncure >>> peg 4 had 4 fish including a 41lb-3oz mirror and a common of 58lb-8ozs on 10kg of Cell.

Jason Walters >>> peg 7 had 7 including ... wait for it ... a 48lb-12oz mirror, a common of 49lbs-11ozs then a 50lb-9oz common on a mix of Cell, and his own bait!!

Bailiff's Diary: October 2010
w/e 1st October

The weather was rather reasonable temperature wise, overcast with changeable winds being slightly chilly.

Not a prolific week, but still fished O.K. Great bunch of lads though!! Mind you it is getting to that time of the year now, there’s still been a lot of big fish caught, and plenty of upper 40’s and at a rough count thus far 10 x 50’s with a best of 72lbs.

While I’m here I’ll just go over a coupla items I’ve seen or heard, Bailiffs have to fish with you occasionally, they can’t help you if they don’t know the lakes themselves, and we pander to the majority, don’t forget the lakes are boilie only lads, get caught with anything else, and I’ll run you down to the train station and you can make your own way home!!!

You're always gonna get some prat who thinks it's clever, well you ain’t if all around you don’t like you mate, there’s one who ain’t coming back.

Lake 1
Few of the lads did all right!! The fish still seem holed up on the ‘Snags’ side of the lake down that arm, still on the same side. They have slowly moved up to the open water. (West Point, Hornets area.)

Nigel Ludbrook 44.10lb Mirror DL1

Jonathon Baldwin >>> ‘Hornets’ managed 8 fish, no monsters, just 30’s up to 38lb on his Nash baits.

<<< Nigel Ludbrook in the ‘Snags’ did best, with a catch of 30 fish and topped it off with 3 x 30’s the best going 44lbs, a mirror, Nigel was using his Super K bait.

Mick Taylor >>> in the ‘Kingfishers’ had 12 fish out up to 45lbs on a mixture of Cell, New Grange and D.l. Specials, 15kg in total.

Duane Kemp >>> ‘Slope’ used just 6kg of Cell and caught 9 fish a third of which were over 40lbs, (3 x 40lbers) again all commons of 42lbs, 45lbs and 47lbs.

Tony >>> and Danny Burns our regular regulars seem to be here every other week ‘yooz two.’ They seem to be in the areas devoid of fish sadly, only one each from the 'Beach' and 'Ladies Lair'.

Duane Kemp 45lb Mirror DL1

Mick Green 46.12lb Common DL1

<<< Mick Green ‘Unknown’ took 5 with a best of 46lbs.

Leon Harris ‘Lodge’ had 4 up to 39lbs on the Cell.

Rick Pedder >>> ‘Westpoint’ had 8 out on his Squid baits, the best going 46lbs.

Finally that ‘scrote’ Joe Soap in the Chimneys had a few out, much to everyones amazement, including 4 x 40’s and a coupla 50’s. You did not put down what bait you were using? ... till the lads told me late Friday. ‘See yer, you mug!!!' He won’t be back.

Rick Pedder 46.8lb Common DL1

Andy McCulloch 40.6lb Common DL2

Lake 2

<<< Andy McCulloch >>> peg 4 had half a dozen up to 40lbs-8ozs on the Cell.

Scott Watson peg 2 used 40kgs of Cell to take a 17 fish haul up to 40lbs as well.

Neil Martin >>> peg 30 had a 17 fish catch on 25kg of the Cell.
