Well! As I start putting together the guide for the next 2 – 3
weeks, I’m hearing the lads on Week 3, have had over 60
x 40lbs a few more 50lbers and another 60lber from Lake 3. More
on those later, but by all accounts it was another 10tonne+ week.
Last
time I said I’d give you a bit of an insight on how to
do yourselves some chopped boilies, if you want to spod a bit
of extra bait out, into tighter areas. Chopped or crumbled
(crushed) boilies can give you extra pulling power, by the
quicker release of flavors and attractors into the swim. I
would always err on side of caution, by baiting up lightly
to start with boilies for example, fed by catapult or a stick.
Then if an when the amount of takes increase then maybe start
putting
out chop’s with a spod to keep the carp active in the
swim. I generally keep my lines marked up using yellow pole
elastic stop knots tied to the line, some 3ft from my rod top,
these I can see easily, even at night with a torch.

Issue 2
How much do I need?
Generally I would say 5-10kg of chopped or crumbled bait would
be about right for a weeks fishing, lets say for instance, you
put out 3-4 spod fulls each cast, some anglers seem to get a buzz out of
just spodding, me! It makes my arms ache.
What
ever your needs we hold a good stock of the Shelf life range
DLSpecials in Tiger Nut, Pineapple and Essential Opal (tutti-frutti),
and in the frozen range the good old “Active-8” and
the “Cell”, which is the latest bait from Mainline,
all of which will catch you an awful lot of fish.
